Last week, the Women's Business Council - Southwest hosted its annual Austin Insights event with the new addition of a financial education workshop presented by Bank of America. The workshop provided information on how business owners can use payment as a tool to build working capital. After the workshop presentations, attendees engaged in a lively discussion about the specific needs of their businesses with the financial experts.

WEE Audience

Following the workshop, Nina Nelms, Senior Vice President and Procurement Executive at Bank of America shared her insights on how a WBE can access business opportunities with her company. Nelms stressed the importance of being WBE certified and knowing your business' core competencies before approaching a corporate buyer. After the keynote presentation Nelms spent plenty of time answering questions from the audience.

One attendee said:

“ The best part of Austin Insights was the opportunity to network, and hear a great presentation. The Q&A session was informative.”

WEE Mentors

Attendees enjoyed cocktails and refreshments while networking with fellow WBEs, corporate representatives, and the WBCS Board of Directors, who travelled to Austin for this event and the Board Retreat.

Thank you to all of our sponsors, speakers, and panelists for a successful evening. Save the date for our next event, Winning the Bid on September 26, 2019!
