The Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors is soliciting nominations for two separate leadership opportunities - service on the Board of Directors for 2023 and appointment to the WBENC National Women's Enterprise Forum for 2023. You may nominate for one or both opportunities.

Board of Directors Position Description & Terms
The Board of Directors is comprised of Corporate and WBE members of the WBCS. As the governing body of the WBCS, board members function within the parameters of the organizational bylaws, fully promote the organization’s mission, participate in the development of operational policies and standards, attend bi-monthly board meetings, contribute financially, attend major events, support WBCS programs, and serve on at least one committee of the WBCS. Members are elected to three-year terms and the upcoming term commences on January 1, 2023.

As a member in good standing of the Women’s Business Council – Southwest, you may self-nominate or submit the name of another WBCS Corporate or WBE owner member. All nominees will be considered by the Nominating Committee who will develop the slate to be voted on by the full membership via email ballot in October.

Please note that the WBCS Board of Directors has 13 expiring Corporate seats and 5 expiring WBE seats. The Nominating Committee will consider all nominees including subsequent terms for expiring term members where applicable.

WBENC National Women’s Enterprise Forum Position Description
 

The Forum drives success of all WBENC certified WBEs through education, opportunities, and resources. The members represent a cross section of WBEs by size, industry, and geography. As a Regional Partner Organization of WBENC, the WBCS appoints WBE Members to serve on the WBENC National Women’s Enterprise Forum. The Forum hosts quarterly meetings annually - including one in March in conjunction with the WBENC National Conference and Business Fair and one in November in conjunction with the WBENC Board of Directors meeting. Forum Committee Representatives appointed by the WBCS provide input into WBENC programs and serve as a conduit for information-sharing and action between the WBCS members and the WBENC Women’s Enterprise Forum.  

Criteria for Appointment:

  • WBE owner is a current or former WBCS Board Member, and/or serves in a leadership role on a WBCS committee.
  • WBE owner must cover her total costs of participation in three WBENC Women’s Enterprise Forum meetings per year (estimated cost $8,000 - $10,000 annually).
  • A maximum of four WBE members in good standing will be selected by the WBCS Nominating Committee and approved by the WBCS Executive Committee.
  • WBE representatives serve on the WBENC Women’s Enterprise Forum at the pleasure of the WBCS Executive Committee.
