For National Volunteer Month, we want to acknowledge our Regional Volunteer of the Year! The Regional Volunteer of the Year award recognizes an individual for their dedication to our mission of promoting women business enterprises and their active assistance in Council programs and events.  This year, at the 2018 Parade of Stars Awards Gala, the award was presented to Melanie Handy of VMware for serving as a primary local resource for encouraging, educating, and connecting women-owned businesses.

Handy serves on the Austin committee, has offered up her talents as a presenter at several Austin events and is a driving force in the region. As the Supplier Diversity Manager of VMware, Melanie has amassed a broad network of colleagues with top-tier Supplier Diversity efforts that translate into world-class programs.

Her network is comprised of fellow Supplier Diversity professionals, diverse business owners in need of mentorship, and councils of like-minded technology companies. Melanie goes above and beyond to advocate for women-owned businesses by hosting events at her company to connect WBEs and create more opportunities for women. Congratulations Melanie, your hard work, and dedication are appreciated.
