Our annual Connections to Contracts event will be going virtual this year on September 10th & 11th! If this is your first virtual event, or if you are looking for ways to make the most out of this new format, we’ve put together a list of the top five strategies for making yourself standout at virtual networking events.

  1. Research

If you know which companies will be attending the event, do your research ahead of time to find out which ones best suit your needs. Once you’ve narrowed it down to a few companies, try to attend their session or booth, and come up with a list of key questions that you would like to ask their representatives. You can visit the Connections to Contracts registration page to see the current list of which corporations will be hosting roundtable discussions.

  1. Interact with your fellow participants

Do not be afraid to introduce yourself and talk with other WBEs or corporate members while you are waiting for your next event to start. You may make an unexpected connection! There will be both time-specific and ongoing opportunities to connect with other attendees at Connections to Contracts.

  1. Have your elevator pitch ready-to-go

While you won’t be taking an elevator up to the conference room, you may have 60-seconds to introduce yourself and your business during, or in between, virtual sessions. Practice introducing yourself, your company and your objectives in a quick and concise manner to improve your chances of making a great first impression!

  1. Follow-Up

So you’ve researched the company, wow-ed them with your elevator pitch and even made a few unexpected connections along the way. Now what? In order to continue the relationship past the virtual event, don’t forget to follow-up with your newly made connections. Reach out after the event, express your gratitude to them for taking the time to speak with you, and remind them of what your business does and what you are trying to achieve.

  1. Help others in your network!

Did you meet someone at the event who may be able to help one of your previous connections? Assisting people in your network by helping them form valuable relationships will go a long way toward making you standout, and may even result in one of your connections extending the same favor in the future!

Now that you have the steps, it is time to put them to use at Connections to Contracts, September 10th-11th! Don’t forget to register here.
