Parade of Stars Awards Gala

This year we had over 70 nominees across 6 categories. And while every nominee is deserving of an award, decisions still had to be made. We’ve detailed the nomination and judging process below to give you some insight on how the winners are chosen.

Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport has been recognized as the 2019 Airport of the Year by Air Transport World (ATW).

At the core of WBCS’s mission is the connection of women-owned businesses with corporations. In 2018, our Sustaining (Corporate) Members reported over 8.5 billion dollars in spend with WBEs!

We are excited to announce the nominees for the 2019 Parade of Stars Awards! The winners will be announced on January 31st at the Parade of Stars Gala at the Omni Dallas. Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks as we take a closer look at the awards process and some of this year’s nominees.

Earlier this year, Toyota was recognized by WBCS as the top corporation of the year at the Annual Parade of Stars Gala. At the gala, the award was received by Cheryl Hughes, Group Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Toyota Mortor North America Inc. We celebrate Toyota for implementing world-class policies and programs to enable growth and innovation while creating a level playing field for women-owned businesses.

For National Volunteer Month, we want to acknowledge our Regional Volunteer of the Year! The Regional Volunteer of the Year award recognizes an individual for their dedication to our mission of promoting women business enterprises and their active assistance in Council programs and events. This year, at the 2018 Parade of Stars Awards Gala, the award was presented to Melanie Handy of VMware for serving as a primary local resource for encouraging, educating, and connecting women-owned businesses. At WBC-Southwest we believe highlighting the impact of women leaders in our community is essential to inspire the next generation of leaders; – Kathleen Hunt is one of those leaders. Kathleen Hunt, President of Personalized Payroll Services, has been named the WBE Volunteer of the Year at the 2018 Parade of Stars Awards Gala for her endless contributions to the council. A role model, mentor, and ambassador, Hunt leveraged technology to build a successful company in payroll management, implementing innovative client products. Every year the Women’s Business Council - Southwest recognizes the tenacious female entrepreneurs and Sustaining (Corporate) Members in our network. At the 2018 Parade of Stars Awards Gala, the WBC-Southwest presented the Corporate Volunteer of the Year award to Donna Butterfield of Frost Bank for her commitment to outstanding volunteerism. Donna dedicates her time to being an Ambassador, mentoring and coaching new WBE’s.
